Today: New HTC headset, Google AI Audio generation, VR eSports, and a movie made in Virtual Reality!
A curated collection of «signal over noise» links about interactive technologies, AI, web3, sense-making, entrepreneurship, and psychology.
Today’s image generated by Midjourney, prompt: «A portrait of multicultural humans playing in Virtual Reality. They feel happy and connected.» (Inspired by the links below.) Full image at the bottom of the article.
What We're Watching: HTC teases the release of a new headset!
My bet is on a small-factor, untethered headset. But maybe a high-end headset instead… What do you think?
Fun fact: some people have tried to adjust the color levels of the images to see if some details would appear, and HTC was prepared with an easter-egg inside: see below!
Google AI releases a very impressive demo of AI-based audio generation.
What You Need To Know: Audio and music generation is much more complex than image generation: an AI that creates music needs to «remember» what it has created before so the music «makes sense» during its whole duration.
What's Next: will music be the next industry disrupted by AI?
Have you ever wondered what Virtual Reality esports look like? I got you covered! Make sure to play the video full screen for a better view.
A documentary named We Met In Virtual Reality was released on HBO earlier this year.
It follows users who built meaningful relationships in a Virtual World named VR Chat, mainly during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Where It Stands: VR Chat is - from my experience - one of the most active and creative Virtual Worlds: you can go there and enjoy games, parties, concerts, actually meet people and interact… If you can, I recommend you try it!
Thanks for making it to the end! The bonus this week is a book recommendation: The Culture Map by Erin Meyer.
It is an essential read if you work in a cross-culture environment.
It really helped us understand each other at Gimbal Cube as we come from different countries and backgrounds, from France, Japan, all the way to the United States!
And our usual second bonus, please enjoy today’s AI-Generated image! «A portrait of multicultural humans playing in Virtual Reality. They feel happy and connected.» I really like how it played out… except for the 2 ams on the right 😬.
